Tervaniemi, Finland, 3-6 February 2015
Programme
Plasma
boundary properties, material erosion&migration, fuel retention and
formation of mixed materials in a tokamak device are closely linked. The
description of the underlying processes within a self-consistent model is the
main subject of current code development and validation. Code validation and
interpretation of experiments by modelling are part of the programme of EUROfusion
Work Packages JET1, JET2, MST1 and PFC. The working session programme aims at reviewing
development status and validation activities of the existing codes with
particular emphasis on scenarios encountered in devices with all-metal wall configuration.
Future benchmarking experiments and code development e.g. regarding
implementation of missing physics and extension of the computational domain will
be discussed with particular emphasis on experiment coordination between modelling
groups and tokamak teams. In this sense
the workshop should be regarded as a platform to exchange ideas across
boundaries of related topics (i.e. across WPs).
Agenda version 23.1.2015
Venue
Tervaniemi, built in 1886, was originally
the summer place for the owner of Tervakoski paper factory. Located by a lake,
it nowadays provides an inspiring atmosphere and modern facilities for
meetings. In the evenings you can tune up your appetite with Finnish specialties
- sauna and ice-water swimming - and enjoy a dinner in the old-style dining
room.
It
should be noted that the traditional post sauna ice-water dip is considered a
quasi-mandatory activity since the very first meeting. You have been warned :-)
Accommodation
Tervaniemi offers cottages for 1-6 people and the participation fee (estimated as 436 €, payable at check-out in Tervaniemi) covers accommodation and all meals. For accommodation in Helsinki on Monday 2nd of February, see information on hotels below.
Transport
There are daily flight
connections between Helsinki
and all major European destinations. Participants are advised to arrive on Monday 2nd February. There is a quota of 25 single rooms in Sokos Hotel Presidentti at a rate of 122 € including breakfast (NOTE: booking by email from presidentti.helsinki@sokoshotels.fi with
code EUROfusion, valid until 26th of January). Several other hotels are available nearby. Bus transport from Helsinki to Tervaniemi on Tuesday morning will depart in front of Hotel Presidentti at 8:45 am (address: Eteläinen Rautatiekatu 4, 00100 Helsinki). The Friday session ends in the early afternoon and
transport to
the airport is provided as well (estimated arrival time at the airport is at 2:45 pm).
Staff Mobility
The participation of invited participants in the meeting is supported by EUROfusion in the form of Mission funding from Work Packages JET1, JET2, MST1 and PFC.
Local Organization
The meeting is organized
